May the Fourth Be with You: 4 Ways to Celebrate Star Wars

4 Ways to Celebrate Star Wars

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a man by the name of George Lucas wrote an amazing trilogy about a new world and the power of the Force… and then subsequently ruined the franchise 22 years after the original release date.

Fast forward to 2015, where nerds and geeks alike put their differences aside one day of the year to celebrate everything Star Wars. If you're looking to join in on the fun, here are 4 ways to celebrate the most holy of holidays—Star Wars Day.

1. Mouse Ears

If you plan on spending your entire day on Star Tours at your favorite Disney theme park, these mouse ears are the perfect accessory. All you need is a headband, tacky spray, Star Wars fabric, styrofoam, black ribbon, and maybe a red ribbon if you want to turn these Mickey Mouse ears into Minnie Mouse!

2. Cookies

If you're planning a party (and why wouldn't you?), then treat your guests to these appropriatley themed cookies. For sugar cookies, use Star Wars cookie cutters, or shape them with a knife. For the light sabers, melt red and green chocolate, and use pretzel sticks for dipping.

3. 3D Stormtrooper Chocolate

If 3D is more your style, try making these Stormtrooper chocolates. By using a Stormtrooper toy, legos, and food-grade casting gel, you can create a mold that you can fill and refill.

4. Jabba the Hutt Body Pillow

"Solo! Solo! Too Nakma Noya Solo!"

If you're looking to lounge all day in your slave-bikini but don't have a Jabba to lie beside, you're in luck. With a couple of pillows, some fabric, a little stuffing, and maybe some help from your mom, you will have an adorable Jabba to cuddle up to all year long. This simple sewing job shouldn't scare you, but if it does, well, your lack of faith is disturbing.

When it comes to celebrating May the Fourth, do or do not, there is no try. Go all out—make Star Wars-themed cocktails, create a unique cosplay, bake a Star Wars-worthy cake, and invite all of your friends to party like rebels. After all, you could use more scoundrels in your life.
