The Job Board: "Don't be an asshole"
The Job Board is a weekly entry of the most ridiculous Cinematography related jobs posted online.
Looking for a Director of Photography that is an all around on a set. Will be performing role of DP and also camera operation.
I'm hoping to find someone with access to a RED camera, whether it's lower in price or free. If you don't have these connections don't worry you can still apply. Also would like someone who is capable of operating a steady cam. If you have a friend or someone who can offer a discounted rate, anything is appreciated. The more qualifications and different levels of experience the better, obviously, but that does not allow the DP to be an asshole.
Type of person for this job is few and far between, most of you will qualify with your skills, but your personality will suck and you will be way below in satisfactory for this reason. I'm bringing this up to inspire those with good hearts and minds to apply, even if you don't think you have the experience. This element of personality is more important than the skill. This project will need someone funny, flexible, understanding, humble, attentive, willing to admit to mistakes and overall good work ethic. These things are hardly related to the craft one studies and most people in this part of the country are even harder to sift through because we all seem to have the same desire. This is a medium that deals centrally about communicating with other humans, so that's what we'll be doing. Also most of the group already knows one another and has worked together. So this will be a task of blending in and quickly becoming a friendly face.
What's the script about? It's about a new group of high school grads running from the law, their parents and their future, who freak out when even their best friends and town turn on them. Yes, a coming of age story.
Of course another important question is pay. Well the pay scale is sliding based on what you have to offer. If you have your own RED and steady cam package you will make more over all because you will save the production money somewhere else. The position is paid and will also include different things. Housing is provided along with everyday meals, too of course on set meals. It would be necessary for the DP to be in the area by July 1st until August 20th. The area is Western Pennsylvania. Pay can range between $1000-$6000.
Please email resume and any questions.
